First post of Indian Food Porn Star

We usually write off restaurants and bars that revamp or make a return. Mostly because the “re-launch” is, more often than not, a half-concealed attempt at a cosmetic makeover. But last week, we were pleasantly surprised by the second coming of an old Delhi venue – The Grill Room at The Lalit, and tell you why you should definitely (re)visit this oldie but goodie.

28th floor, Wagyu steak, wine pairing – everything about that sentence made us curious to check out the new avatar of this restaurant with a killer view. With a few frills here and there, and a charmingly tiled open kitchen – the dining room has opened up drastically. We liked the minimalist approach, so don’t go expecting theatre in the decor, but do expect romance on your plate. The beaming Chef Ishika Konar makes dining here an uncomplicated affair. Though the kind of produce and ingredients she’s working with are anything but that. There are several expensive goodies in the pantry and fridge here, and Chef Ishika makes full use of them with a delicate restraint that is neither bashful nor showy.
